Cargo Fire on Bulk Carrier Extinguished in German Port

On July 2nd, the bulk carrier CAPTAIN RAVI, flying the flag of Marshall Islands and managed by MPP Carriers SA, Greece, reported a fire in one of its cargo holds while docked at the Port of BRAKE, Germany. The local fire brigade promptly responded and, with assistance from the ship’s crew, successfully extinguished the fire.

Fortunately, there were no reported casualties. Currently, authorities are assessing the extent of damage to the cargo. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

CAPTAIN RAVI, with a capacity of 37,852 tonnes and built in 2009, had departed from the Port of PELINTUNG, Indonesia on May 15th prior to the incident.
