3. On 04th March 1992, a ship in DR position 38°11’S 151°10’E, the sextant altitude of the Sun’s LL was 35°59.1’ when the GPS showed 04d 22h 55m 40s. If IE was 1.3’ OFF the arc and HE was 30m, find the direction of the PL and a position through which it passes using long by chron method. [10 Marks]
4. On 30th April 1992, a ship in DR position 00°20’N 060°12’W, the sextant altitude of the Sun’s UL East of the meridian was44°13.4’ when the GPS showed 30d 13h 00m 52s. If IE was 3.1’ OFF the arc and HE was 20m, find the intercept and the direction of the PL using Marq St. Hilaire method. [10 Marks]
5. On 2nd May 1992, a vessel in DR position 15°36’S 080°11’W, the sextant altitude of the Sun’s LL near the meridian was 58°25.6’ when the GPS showed 02d 17h 37m 48s. If IE was 1.6’ ON the arc and HE was 15m, find the direction of the PL and the Lat where it cuts the DR long. [10 Marks]
